Well done Mark, I think you presented our case very well.
There are a lot of stereotypes and misunderstandings of the facts around this issue.
It makes me realise just what a disservice those like Lou Dobbs and his ilk do to both the debate over this issue as well at to the future of this country that those like us can only benefit.
Ron Hira though he is wrong on his position can atleast acknowledge the need for more green cards. The extreme right is just fundamentally messed up in their head, and would gladly go back to becoming Hamish in the city!

I am currently working for an employer A full time on H-1 B. I-140 Approved (> 180days) and 485 pending (July 2nd filer). I have my EAD. My H-1 is being extended and I have not received my approval notice yet.

Because if you had registered all your cases (present or old past receipt notices too) at USCIS website, you would have noticed that there are recent LUDs on the first H1/? that you entered the US. Had you known this you would not have asked this question ;-)

My husband's I485 was approved yesterday but mine and my son's, no change.
I got the magic mail today ---Card production ordered!!! Just for me.
The status of my wife's I485 remains the same ---> Received and pending?

you have till december to find a job. thats 2-3 months. put all your energy to find a new job and ask the new employer to file H1B. if you can find a job in a good company you will have another stab at it. stay away from consultancies this time if thats what causing the rejection...you need to elaborate more on your situation to exactly know what your options are (field of study/experioence etc)....
I am a Master's student and had applied for H1B through a consultant under master quota 2007. I was devastated when the consultant told me today that my H1B was not approved. When i checked online with my WAC no, as expected it said that a decision was mailed to the employer which in most cases means H1B denied.

can i invoke a AC21 on future gc..I did not work for this company, i am tired of my current company, they have exploited me and my personality is changing and i forgotten to live life, want to port and move on to a new company ? is AC21 on future GC consider legal or fraud.?

My case was filed in Aug, 2006 and I-485 was transferred to local office for interview on May 22, 2007. The interview went well and the lady officer indicated that I should get my card in 1 month!! That day was so nice!!!
Anyway, the reason for interview was I guess the previous I-485 submitted by my ex-wife after our seperation to put me in trouble in 2001 but I never took any benefit for that and I hand-delivered a letter to the IO when they asked me to come for interview in 2002. I explained that it should have been abandoned coz I sent letter even at the time for finger-print notice! Long story short, my ex and I had fight and I called the cop who took both of us to the custody and in the morning let us go. I didn't see the judge and.
So on this last I-485 (EB-2 ROW) I answered the question NO of if I had ever filled any immigration petition and NO to if I had ever been arrested.

I asked the congressman Ed Markey and his office told that my name check was cleared in Dec, 2006!!! Hi All,
I received the I-485 reciept notice yesterday from my lawyer (see below for my info), but the alien number on I-485 is different from the number on my approved I-140. My I-140 has a number starting with A099, but my I-485 reciept notice has a number starting with A088. Someone in this forum mentioned that A099 is for the primary applicant and A088 is for the dependant. I am the primary applicant for I-485, so if it is true, I should get A099, not A088. I am not sure if I can have two different alien numbers or if this is a mistake by USCIS. Is anyone in the same situation?
I am sorry if this issue is discussed previously (I couldn't find the related thread). I would greatly appreciate your input.

There we go. The Senator yesterday introduced S.1225 for the illegal immigration reform part of his own comprehensive immigration reform scheme under the name of Immigrant Accountability Act of 2007. Probably more immigration reforms bills may be introduced by other legislators before and during the Comprehensive Immigration Reform debate in the Senate next month. As we summarized on 04/22/2007, there have been developing compromises along the lines of key issues which we highlighted in the posting and media start predicting that because of these compromises, the CIR may have a better chance to pass this year than last year.

My case was transferred to local office of Los Angeles, CA. I received a note saying on Dec 7th it was transferred to expedite the processing and they (LA office) will let me know when decision is made.
Current processing date for I-485 is August 19th. Does that mean that when they reach Dec 7th they will process my case regardless of my PD(which is June 05)?
