I got an email today from USCIS stating this
Current Status: Card production ordered.
I did not receive any other approval notice. I hope this means that our 485 is approved and the cards have been ordered ?

My checks did not get cashed yet...checking my acct daily..
see my signature, no receipts till date money order not cashed, Called USCIS got an answer.... "Not yet in the System", but IO told me there is a big junk of files and it will be processed in next 30 or 40 days.

Go to India and spend time with your loved ones. Many times that heals things in a magic way !
On your GC situation do these :
1)Send an appeal to your local senator under CC to the Secretary of State, Homeland Security and the President to intervene and do some thing
2)Send an appeal to the Director of USCIS in charge of AOS explaining the situation
3)Consult a good attorney to know the options in the exiting scenario

Now you are going to protest porting..do u have a slightest idea of how it is to wait for 10 years in the GC queue. This is not because people were not eligible for EB2 at that time, but rather due to the lawyer and employer mess ups. And there is no wrong in someone going to the front of the queue if they were able to prove that they are eb2 worthy..
"EB-2 India. This category is expected to remain unchanged or to move very slowly forward (by a week or so) in the short-term. This is mainly caused by the fact that many EB-3 India applicants (there are approximately 60,000 EB-3 India pending cases) are �porting� their priority dates into the EB-2 India category and are thus taking visa numbers.
EB2 India is slowwly becoming EB3 as thousands are porting from EB3 to EB2. Some of them are really worthy of EB2 and some of them are fradulent.
EB2 India applicants should wake up from their celebratio of a few months leap and get ready for slow movement or retro.
Guys wake up and fight to make the porting rules veryu strong if not stop porting. The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicatnt should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...

If you were "scared to use the AC21", why not use it now, anyways ur ready to go back to India, what will u do with GC once u get it anyways?
Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

I am sorry, but that is the opposite of what 4 recent elections have shown. In spite of Republicans bad reputation, the American people seem to have replaced incumbents based on their position on illegal immigration/amnesty, not necessarily on their party. Those of us waiting to see Democrats regaining control may be heading towards a disappointment. I am not sure if others understand what we are up against. That's exactly what members of the House want:if you wait after November, more likely than not a number of incumbents may be kicked out of the office. Then it would be easier to pass a House enforcement bill.
Is the only hope. Reality is that we have to wait for November and hope that Democrats will gain power at the House. Is important to undestand that only the conservative repubblican are blocking and killing the bill. We have to hope for the Democrats to gain control.

My I-485, I-140 and I-765 for my wife reached Nebraska on August 17th, exactly the last day, because I was in my home country and came back on August 15th.
Obviuosly, no receipt# yet.....I think I will wait a couple of months to get it.

1) Read about how treacherous a path they take when they cross the border. The position they were in their home country is what drives them to risk life to get to a place where they can find a better life and moreover provide a better life to family back at home , whom they may not see even once in few years.
Once you have a fair understanding of their path, in my opinion,you will never compare yourself with them and feel bad about few things that may have gone right for them.
2)The government bringing them to the front of the line is definitely injustice to people who are already there in the queue as well as to those who are going to apply legally in future. They should make sure they don't get precedence over the current applicants and they have to make sure the don't create a block for the future legal applicants.
And none of us should even complain when millions of illegals are suddenly made legal by the Government and they jump the line in front of us for no fault of ours and there are EB3s still waiting from 2001. The illegals have taken a risk right by jumping across the border and staying here illegally???

To begin with, this is not the place for me to explain to you the details of difference between Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) GDP (that you quote) and the market exchange rate GDP which I quoted. But since you raised the subject, PPP GDP is adjusted to accomodate for different inflation and consumption rates in different countries. Without the PPT adjustment, India's GDP is equal to Mexico's, even though India has 11 times the population of Mexico. The reason India comes in 4th with the PPP adjustment in the world is because the ruppee is undervalued and Indians have a purchasing power that is 4 times smaller than Mexicans. So, to humor you and use your method of calculation, the Per Capita GDP (PPP) Of India is $3,344 in 2006 and Mexico's is $12,886. "Where are all the Mexican doctores, computer scientists, economists and professors?" you ask. The answer is: They are IN MEXICO making huge salaries, when the Indian ones have to come here because their salaries in India don't give them enough money to eat. Why aren't all the construction workers and lawn workers in the U.S. Indian? Because they cannot affor the airfare. The Mexicans just walk accross the border. Any you know what? All those Indian Professors at Harvard etc are teaching class to all those rich Mexican kids. Get your facts straight before you confront me and make fun of my MBA (which I got in the U.S. incidentally, not Mexico, but if I had wanted I could have gotten a top 20 MBA back home). I had decided not to post anyhting about this illegal immigrant/racism thing. But cant help making one comment. You called others racist. But I wonder if you are doing the same by trying to show using numbers etc. how Mexicans are better than Indians. Would that not be racism? Its strange how we are blind to our own biases.

Anyway, moving forward...It will be nice to make a list of desirable points in a bill that is independent of any cause for illegal immigrants. I will start with two points. You can add more if you like. If there is enough momentum and support for these points, then in a truly democratic environment, we may want to modify the core IV goals to reflect that (Ideally I would prefer that there be a vote for what should be the core goals...after all most people here have contributed something towards the cause...and only those who have contributed should be allowed to vote...no free lunch).
1. Allow people to file for 485 and get EAD even if visa numbers are not available
2. Allow EAD to be FULLY portable without restrictons (i.e., irrespective of job description or job title or job location or salary).
The above two dont ask for sweeping changes in immigration laws such as increase visa numbers etc. etc. and are easy for the average American person to understand. And so can hopefuly be passed easily.
With the above two passed, I dont think many people will complain if it takes another 5 years to get their GC. Agree?
By the way, I have got my EAD card and my PD is also current. So the above two goals will be redundant for me. My story is that I am stuck in FBI namecheck. But the moderators have already indicated that it cant be one of the core goals. So I would not list that even if I would like that to be one of the core goals.
