I had info pass appointment today in Newark they asked my

I-485 approval letter

I told them it�s almost one a month, I didn�t get my card yet. Then they gave me a token number and when my turn came. I met the USCIS officer he wasn�t much help at all. he just gave me 551 stamp for 1yr and when I asked him about biometric he said last year I took in Oct-07 its good till next month and I don�t need it.
I was expecting 551 stamp look like h1 visa stamp, but it�s just an ordinary stamp.
After coming home I called USCIS asked them about the card. She told me that card was sent out for production today and I should get it within 1 week to 30 days. Because it was sent out today that�s the reason I didn�t get the email update

What else do we need to carry apart from Info pass appointment letter, I-485 approval letter and Passports? I will plan to take an Infopass appointment and get my and my wife's passport stamped.

Even If this happens, it will not help EB3I because then the spill over will be shared by all countries in EB3. Then there will not be any option left both for EB2 and EB3. Now atleast there is an option for some EB3 folks to move to EB2.
Don't worry EB2 Dude! Nothing is going to happen. You will still enjoy the enhanced status that you currently have. The EB3 folks like myself have far too much lethargy/timidness to do anything. The fact that they are still in EB3 after so many years is proof of that. :D

in one of the threads its said that all 90 senators had agreed to pass the SKIL as against one who did not (sen sessions) and since lame duck required unanimous voting it cud not, but when the demo's bring it up early next year, they would not need an unanimous vote on it but a majority vote? so statistically it sud get through? how far off am i on this?

I contacted my Attorney (Its company attorney) and he told me that he will make an enquiry with USCIS. Apparently he has a list of all the pedning cases who are current this month and he is planning to send the list to USCIS.
Lets see what i get next week. Week 3 done. Week 4 starts!

even if the law was interpreted incorrectly by the lawyer ...I wonder if they can do a admin fix ??? this is definitely beneficial for many people ..for e.g. those who are homeowners, etc etc ...atleast the primary spouse can change fields etc etc

My I-140 approved from TSC. I had sent my I-485 to NSC and I was expecting my application will be transferred to TSC.But, I received receipt from NSC.

Wait till next week-end. My 140 mailed to NSC on 11th April (why?? not sure) and received RN from texas. ND was dated 19th April. RD was 13th April.
Now # of applications are more so it can take more time but your RD will be maintained.

But the issue is they changed something last month (I need to search on that) and according to which 485 will be processed in two places NSC or TSC based on their I140 approval. As you know they keep changing the rule every month, it really hard to track all of these things.
Now # of applications are more so it can take more time but your RD will be maintained.

I am quite sure FP is not requested for paper based filing. FP for you is misleading.

but she's right. the US immigration law is extremely detailed and totally unforgiving. the country quotas being applied to employment visas looks like some lawyer gone overboard with putting constraints while writing the law, but now it is the law, and they don't change laws here unless there are votes or lot of money involved.
that's the way it is written... you should have figured that out before coming here :(

Minimalist.. to begin with, I am not here to judge you or anyone else and I don't think sledge ever had those intentions. Hence, please don't take any of the comments personally.

The common answer was that she (not he) needs to switch back to H4 as she is already out of status. My orignal post very clearly indecates the reasons why I believe Neha is already out of status. After I answered Neha's question, which I know is the correct answer, I asked her a simple question i.e. is it ethical to apply for H1 visa when a person does not have a job offer, especially when the entire legal immigrant community knows that for last few years due to the visa cap it is very hard to obtain a new H1 even if you have a valid job offer.
I totally agree with you that no one on the face of this earth is a pure saint but ours (legal immigrants) is a small hardworking community, which most often understand each others pains, and that's the reason this forum exist.
Now, I ask you in the most humble way, what would you have done if your would-be employer had sponsored the visa but due to the lottery your application was never even selected for processing. To top that you learn from all over the world that companies like Wipro, Satyam and desi body shops applied for H1's, which they probably won't even use. Don't get me wrong.. I am a proud Indian and proud what these companies have archived..
don't have the guts to take care of anything person to person. That will only go to show how right the right things you do are. Do you know how a person that never does a wrong thing ( "I always do the right thing regardless of the time or place") threatens that he will bring people who do not belong in the conversation to the conversation to show how capable he is.
So let me get this straight, in your culture doing the right thing means cuss others using degrading words directed at their family mebers passes for bravery, which is a "RIGHT THING"
Now, you haven't answered the questio I posed to you about never doing a wrong thing in your life.
To answer your question on why they need compassion, he tried to get H1 and earn sme money. Now the economy went down and screwed up his visa status and brought on more possible troubles most of them may or may not materialize.
You can respond in two way. He got what he deserved or help him find a way out of the mess. Mind you he is already suffering in terms of the tension he has to bear with respect
to continued stay in US.
