My husband received CPO mail on 08/04, welcome mail on 08/05, soft LUD on 08/06 and approval notice sent mail on 08/09 but dated 08/08 in USCIS status. Hoping to have the GC in hand next week.
Anyone who has the same chain of events or received GC for CPO mail on 08/04 or later?

Even a credit card bill takes about a week to reach you ! You will definitely get his card next week, i'm sure you and child will also get approvals soon. At least there is movement on your family's case.

I thought we have made immense progress with regard to our moral standards so that one does not have to necessarily make significant personal sacrifices to upholds ones way of life and independence. That is why I believe this is be kind of a Civil rights/Equal Employment kind of case.
It could be argued that the supreme court has given the government authority to discriminate based on country of origin for immigration purposes. That could easily be justified for new people coming into the country. Albiet it is slightly different from the case of most of us, those who are already in the process at some stage. In our case, DOS/DOL/USCIS acknowledge that we should be granted permanent residence (based on Labor) and even on such basis, is willing to extend our visas/work status indefinitely. However, we are being limited to not change employer (in case 485 is not applied) and to not change the field of work (in case 485 is applied). I think this can be argued as a violation of Equal Employment Oppurtunity by the government by a competent lawyer. Even if the court does not do anything, it will go a long way in people and common people realising these issues.

unfortunately more than 80% of backlog elemination is completed, so labor substitution even though it is removed from july 16 has already done its damage. scores of people have already done labor substitution.
How come they did not stop the substitution right away? Instead, giving it another month. Wish they gave the visa bulletin another month. :cool:

If I am lucky enough I can make upto 70-80years of my age maximum, considering my age now, I might live another 30-35yrs. Just imagine what life we want, I completely agree what points you mentioned below. But you are forgetting the insidents we read in news media every day. I almost find atleast one incident where people are killed just for money........what if our fate is not good, and we encounter such situation???

But please, just trying to beat around the bush is not going to help anyone here for that matter not just me alone. You suggestion of sending flowers seems like that is the only solution to all the problems. I would say the reversal of the July 2 visa bulletine didn't just happen because of the flowers the members sent, the law suit AILA wanted to file against USCIS was one of the major reason apart from the California's Lawmakers letter. You can do all you want and be as blunt. USCIS doesn't have to answer to you. Stop chanting the "HIGHLY SKILLED", paying all taxes, nonsense. You were not brought to the USA at gun point. You chose to come (and stay). The USA can just put one ad in the newspaper anywhere in the world and there will be 10 million highly skilled NEW people they can bring. They do not need you (us). I am not anti at all. I am trying to understand the law.
How does a (I485) spouse doesnt have EAD and AP on hand (even if not using it and in H4/L2 etc)?
Wont they have problem when the dates become current and GC is issued to primary.
Lets say I have PD of Aug 2007 and If govt makes me to file under EB and my wife under FB. When date becomes current in EB ( which has higer probability ) I will be able to file but my wife will not.
Now questions will be what will be her status ? If I switch to EAD ? second if govt give them a legal status but they have to wait for 3-4 years to date become current and file for 485.

EAD Receipt # is different from i485 Receipt #. What i know though is that i485 receipting is a pre-requisite of EAD receipting.

My questions are:
I am in H1B status and plan to keep it. I need to go for Landing in Canada (PR approved). I have pending I-485 with approved AP, and EAD(not using).
1. My passport with old H1B visa is expired. The H1B visa is also expired in may 2007. I have new valid passport(India) with Canada Immigrant Visa and approved I-797 extension for H1B till 2010. Can I safely use automatic visa revalidation to come back after landing considering expired visa in expired passport?
If I decide to go for Stamping:
2. If stamping gets denied or delayed, can I come back in with AP?
3. I may have to file EAD renewal application before I leave. Is it safe to travel outside US after filing for EAD renewal or will the application be considered abandoned. I plan on using H1B stamp or automatic revalidation to come back.
My wife is H4-> F1-> now pending AOS because using EAD(from I-485 pending not OPT).
She will accompany me to canada with pending EAD renewal application:
1. Will her EAD application be abandoned or is there no risk? She will be using AP to come back.
2. Does she need to carry employment verification letter etc. I know for OPT EAD they recommend not to travel while EAD application is pending or carry an offer of employment or verification letter to help re-enter.

My application was mailed on June 25th to TSC and picked up by TSC IO on June 28th . The new weekly processing update states processing/receipting completed till june 28th. But they still haven't cashed my check or issued any receipt ? When I called the 800 number to ask them regarding my application they first told me to wait for 15 days ,then 45 days and now 90 days. Whats the point of issuing weekly update if USCIS itself is not following it,it is creating more anxiety then doing any good.
I am wondering what if they misplaced/lost my application, will they accept resubmitting a new I485 petition after Aug17th based on Fedex signature conformation receipt signed by an IO, of previously filed petition??:confused:
