I have a fundamental question here. What exactly has to happen to actually say that the CIR has died? Will the house have to vote and kill it? I guess there are no legal time lines for a bill to lapse - or is there one? Does the bill automatically die when the present congress' term ends?

My PD is April 2 2004 EB2 (US educated for the idiot who tried to divide us b/w US and non US educated)
As a token of appreciation - I have contributed $100 to IV just now.Receipt ID: 1467-8132-5592-9911. Request all of those who get GC this month to contribute some $ amount. Although I was not very active in the forums I have contributed at least $400 to this cause and I will do the same in the future. Please do not try to divide b/w EB3 EB2 US educated etc. which I am noticing lately.

Here is the link (http://immigrationvoice.org/media/forums/Reporter_Contacts.xls) to download above mentioned contacts from the thread.
Instructions on how to import all the contacts into yahoo address book.
1. Download the file and save it to desktop.
2. Click the options on the left when you logon to yahoo mail.
3. Then click the address book to the right.
4. Under management, click Import/Export.
5. Select the yahoo .csv option. Browse to the file and press the import button.
6. All the addresses should be under your contacts now.
Can some one post all the email addresses in one place or at least tell me how to do . i am ready to do that

I have not read your controversial posts others are referring to but about this one, this is a genuine cause and I am with you for this.

It is correct. We are talking about both kinds of kids. And saying that not having greencard affects the quality of life for the family.

Is Lin for Lincoln, NB or something like that? Is one I-140 and the other I-485?
LIN is the prefix of the id number given to your application if you are applying to Nebraska service center, like WAC is for the california service center. it might possibly mean Lincoln,Nebraska.
I believe all 485(along with 765 and 131) applications should go to Nebraska service center after the bispecilization rule became effective. Not sure where the 140 application should go to though.
here is how you decipher the receipt number, be it from Nebraska,California,Texas,Vermont
LIN-03-123-5-0001
LIN - Service center,LIN for Nebraska,WAC for california,SRC for Texas and EAC for vermont
03 - the year 2003, it should be 07 for this year
123 - working days count from the start of the immigration year(immigration year starts in october i believe)
5 - Not sure what this number is, all i know is, it is 5 for all the 4 service centers
0001 - count of the applications received at this service center on the given day(in this case day-123). This can go from 0001 - 9999 but normally its about 2000-3000 application worst case 5000-6000 applications per day(not sure how they managed when 150,000 H1 applications came in one single day!)

All officials have talked about processing 60k visas in a month to avoid visas going waste.
None was honest enough to say the unused visas expire on 09/30 NOT 06/30.
So, why the mad rush to give out all visas by 06/30?? We all know why..
some people say this was because of the Kennedy-Bush bill... to get good press for the bill.
IMO that may be true, but having seen the way US works, i'm willing to bet 25 cents that some high official's bonus depended on ending retrogression. So he did it, for all of 2 weeks.

This is what I don't understand. Priority dates are set so only applications before that date can be approved. Processing dates are not set in that sense of the term.
Processing dates doesn�t mean they don�t process applications received after those dates.
I got my H1B renewal notice last week. My application�s received date is in 3rd week of Jan and Processing date for H1B extension is still in December-07.

A note to my fellow IV members - I am not after the $42/Hr job. Good luck in finding a US citizen to do this job. I was wrong about EEO, it is actually IRCA which prohibits discrimination in recruitment and hiring.

As per web page on this link -Do allow all employees (including non-U.S. citizens) to provide any permissible documents to establish their identity or work authorization during the employment verification process.This will exclude applicants on H-1B visa status as they don't have work authorization to work for the new employer.
However, as I said before, Employer can not discriminate between GC holder, EAD, and OPT holder.
